The Details

Cracker arrived at the start of 2009, sourced by Stef Thompson and Connie Colfox as a very green young horse, nervous and introvert but hugely talented. He is certainly eye catching to look at, a very athletic type with active paces and a scopey jump. With Arab blood in his breeding bringing strength, sharpness and stamina he appeared to have all the ingredients to make a top horse.

Cracker has been a very quirky one to produce, very flighty and keen to bolt - Jodie and Nicky have always had a more long-term career approach, believing patience and time would be the key to his success. This strategy has clearly paid off as once he turned the corner, Cracker has flown up the grades effortlessly.

2014 was an incredible season for Cracker gaining 201 BE points over the year with a 4th place at Burnham Market CCI-S 4*, 7th at Chatsworth CCI-S 4*, 5th at Bramham CCI-L 4* and finally to top it off a podium finish at Blenheim CCI-L 4*, finishing 3rd. Jodie was reserve for the World Equestrian Games out in Normandy on Cracker and also the winner of the inaugural Britannia League as the highest placed horse and rider combination at CCI 4* level having not yet competed on a Senior British Team.

In 2015, Cracker was reserve for the European Championships at Blair Castle and completed his first CCI-L 5* at Burghley. They had a very successful trip across the pond, finishing 3rd both individually and as part of Team GB during the Nations Cup in the Plains, Virginia USA. After an injury ruled them out of Badminton in 2017, he returned to competition in 2019 only to have another quieter couple of seasons due to COVID and Jodie's pregnancy. However both Jodie & Nicky have been lucky enough to enjoy his competition greatness with a number of successes since before retiring him from competition in May last year. Cracker has been a true horse of a lifetime not only at the heart of Jodie success as an event rider at the top of the sport but also emotionally as a friend, helping both of them through many difficult times, he has been a constant throughout, quirky to say the least but exceptional in so many ways and always one you could count on when you needed him the most!

Cracker is now happily retired at Nicky's, looking a million dollars, living his best life and treated like the king that he is.
