Introducing Jodie Amos
Jodie Amos is a young, talented and ambitious rider.
Although born in the UK and a British national, Jodie was
raised in France and is fluent in French and Spanish.
She is now based permanently in the UK, running
Jodie Amos Eventing and pursuing her own successful eventing career.
Career
Jodie’s love of horses began at an early age and she soon competed in pony events, participating in the French Pony Championships at the age of 14, in view of future international selections.
As a junior, Jodie was placed sixth at the National French Championships in Tartas and finished in the top ten at the French Juniors Cup final at Bonneville.
In 2003, her last season in France, Jodie enjoyed considerable success at intermediate level, rarely out of the top ten placing, with a number of wins notably at Bonneville, Tartas and Saumur.
Representing Great Britain, Jodie finished 2nd at the International CIC* of Kreuth in Germany and 6th at the
International CIC* of Ecublens in Switzerland.
On her arrival in England, Jodie's success at international level continued with a 2nd place at Thirlestane's Scottish Championships CIC** followed by a fantastic performance at Burgie International CCI**, finishing 4th and 11th with well over 100 starters in both classes.
These competitive results earned Jodie a place on the short list for the 2005 British Young rider squad with a view to competing in the European Championships.
Having finished university to concentrate on her eventing career full time, Jodie went on to gain valuable experience working for top eventers, alongside bringing on horses for sale, another key component in this business.
Some however, she has managed to hang on to including her current top ride Altairs Luck, with whom she won her first international three day event, Aldon CCI* 2007. She has produced him from scratch, from a just broken 5 year old to an experienced international competitor with whom she is currently on the 2012 Equine pathway, a training program for potential Olympic horses. Altairs Luck has since successfully upgraded to advanced level and amongst other high placings, he finished 5th in France at Lignieres CCI** and 2nd best Brit. It was also this very partnership that was selected for the CCI** European Championships out in Hungary, earning Jodie her first British Team appearance and the chance to wear the Union Jack. This was a life changing experience, the Team won a Bronze medal and Jodie's aspirations to ride at the Olympics have only but doubled.
Jodie is now busy full time with the running of her successful event yard based at Aston-le-Walls. She has a very strong team of horses for next season with four more experienced rides at intermediate/advanced level, alongside some really promising youngsters. Her international ambitions and high expectations for the future make these very exciting times. Jodie Amos Eventing has further expanded and offers the possibility of having your horse on training livery tailored to suit your needs and objectives as well as offering tuition for riders in all three disciplines.

Training
Based in France, Jodie was originally trained and produced by Laurent Bousquet, one of the top French three day eventers and trainer to the Belgian Olympic event squad and trainer to the Japanese, Belgium and now French Senior Eventing Squad. Laurent and his wife Blandine mentored Jodie in every way, training / competing / backing / selling / running a yard, everything she practices stems from her time in France. Still today, they are the first people Jodie turns to for advice in a moment of doubt.
On returning to Britain, Jodie was based with Olympic three day event medallist, Tiny Clapham. Jodie gained invaluable knowledge and experience during her year with Tiny and has remained in close contact particularly when producing, competing and selling young horses
Jodie currently has regular show jumping training from international event rider JP Sheffield, at his base in Leicestershire, home to Rolleston Horse Trials. On the flat, she is helped by Judy Harvey, dressage judge, rider and trainer to many top riders such as Ruth Edge.
Furthermore, she benefits from continuing on-site advice from american Olympic rider and selector, Ann Taylor, and her husband top British rider, trainer and BE board member, Nigel Taylor.
